I was asked to update the logo for the United Mission to Nepal from the old mark, to help make the organisation look more modern.
The original logo was deemed to be too wide to be helpful when used in various different publications. The colour of the font also made it difficult to pair with different backgrounds. The seated people in front of the rising sun was one aspect that was to be incorporated into the new logo. I decided to make it a simpler shape, all encompassed by a border.
It was decided to not include the full name of the organisation within the logo, as they were widely known within Nepal as simply UMN. After some search, a font was created for the letters UMN, which mirrors the curved and sharp corners of the larger box. The people were re-drawn to make them more suitable, and the full name of the organisation was kept in Nepali, running above the rising sun.
